Modelling
Modelling

SHIELD uses modelling to evaluate prevention programmes for HPV, HBV, HCV, HIV and TB. It assesses impact and cost-effectiveness of screening and vaccination strategies to support informed decision-making at national level.

Stigma

SHIELD supports partners in turning policy commitments into action to reduce stigma and discrimination related to HIV, hepatitis, TB and STIs, with a focus on healthcare and educational settings.

Monitoring Vaccine Coverage

SHIELD explores how to monitor vaccination coverage in vulnerable groups through pilots and mapping of best practices, including GDPR-compliant systems, registries, and data linkage, as well as EU-level tools and targets.

Structural Barriers & Best Practices

SHIELD identifies and validates best and promising practices to improve the uptake of HPV and HBV vaccinations among groups experiencing health inequities. Through pilot projects, it tests transferability and strengthens communication to raise awareness and counter misinformation on vaccination.

SHIELD strengthens capacity by identifying barriers and good practices through community and system assessments. It supports equitable access and equips healthcare workers to deliver culturally competent prevention, vaccination, testing, and care.

SHIELD raises awareness of its activities and results among policymakers, professionals, and the public through targeted communication, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination to maximise visibility and impact.

SHIELD monitors and evaluates activity progress against objectives, milestones, and indicators. It identifies risks and challenges and assesses overall impact at national and European levels among participating Member States.

Sustainability

SHIELD supports the long-term uptake of results by embedding outcomes into national policies and practices, promoting policy dialogue, and developing recommendations for continued impact beyond the Joint Action in the participating Member States
