New interview spotlight on the SHIELD Joint Action
In an interview with Vaccines Today, JA SHIELD Coordinator Dorthe Raben shared how the Joint Action is bringing together 69 organisations from 25 European countries to strengthen the prevention of infection-related cancers.
The interview emphasises the importance of collaboration across countries and sectors, recognising that infections linked to cancer are often addressed separately despite affecting many of the same populations. The interview also highlights SHIELD’s integrated approach, combining vaccination, testing, screening, treatment, and other prevention measures while addressing barriers that limit access to care and prevention services.
By supporting the implementation of effective prevention programmes and tackling structural barriers, SHIELD aims to reduce the burden of infection-related cancers and improve public health outcomes across Europe
